Mold Toxicity & Environmental Detox
Many people suffer from mold allergies. A few suffer with infections ranging from mild to severe. Countless suffer from mold toxicity without anyone ever considering that mold in their home, their car, or their workplace could be causing the long list of unexplained and unrelenting symptoms.

People with a genetic susceptibility to mold toxins are hurt by a chronic inflammatory response in their immune system as well as many direct toxin effects on hormones, mitochondria, intestinal tract, and other systems. About 1 out of every 4 or 5 individuals have this genetic susceptibility. If they spend too much time exposed to toxin- producing molds, they can become very sick.

Our mold toxic patients often spent years going from one specialist to the next, asking for help and getting a little help with their symptoms at best. Unless someone knows how to correctly test for mold and to treat it, these patients would continue to suffer for years, unable to address the root problem.

Further Defining Mold-Related Illness
Mold can impact health in three primary ways: infection, allergy, and toxicity. These can overlap, but most people experience one dominant type. Understanding the differences helps clarify how mold toxicity stands apart.

Mold Infection
Many newly diagnosed patients wonder, “Am I infected with mold?” In reality, only a small percentage of mold-toxic patients have actual mold growing in their sinuses or lungs, producing toxins internally. Skin and toenail fungi may cause local issues but do not create the systemic toxins linked to CIRS. For the vast majority, the toxins come from environmental exposure—not mold growing inside the body.
Mold Allergy
Mold allergies affect a much larger portion of the general population. When mold spore counts rise, many experience sneezing, congestion, wheezing, or skin symptoms. These reactions occur when IgE antibodies trigger histamine release. While uncomfortable, mold allergies are rarely dangerous and do not involve mold biotoxins.

Mold Toxicity
Mold toxicity occurs when genetically susceptible individuals inhale aerosolized mycotoxins, typically from water-damaged buildings. These people cannot effectively clear the toxins, leading to a chronic inflammatory response affecting multiple systems. They may have no mold infection or allergy at all, yet still become very ill because of their body’s inability to eliminate mold toxins from the environment around them.
